Correspondence, reports, newsletters, press releases, and board minutes of the Louisiana Health Care Campaign, and other records, as well as background material such as budgets and reports from allied groups and relevant state agencies, including the Department of Health and Hospitals and the Department of Insurance. The group's efforts to influence legislation are reflected in bills, correspondence with legislators at the state and federal level, and score cards and surveys of candidates. The following specific health care-related activities and issues are also documented in the collection: President Bill Clinton's Health Care plan, the transfer of the state charity hospitals to the LSU System, Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge and Charity Hospital in New Orleans, cuts in Medicaid, Louisiana's LACHIP program (healthcare for children), indigent care, prescription drugs, insurance companies, and home health care. Approximately 150 color photographic slides showing protests by Operation Rescue protesting abortions at Delta Women's Clinic (Baton Rouge) in 1992 are also included. The collection also includes records of the Louisiana Health Care Commission, of which the campaign was a member.

The Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, was founded as L'Hôpital des Pauvres de la Charité in 1736, the bequest of shipbuilder Jean Louis.
